I arrived at work today and a friend said to me, with a dazed look on her face, “my husband just got laid off.”
“I’m so sorry!” I said. “How awful.”
“We’re just numb,” she said, and then we had to go in to our meeting and I couldn’t say anything else.
Then when school started a girl in my class said, “My daddy just lost his job.”
I stupidly replied, “how scary.”
She looked at me blankly, and then said, irritated, “NO, it’s sad.”
She’s right. It is very sad.
I had a similar conversation with one of my 1st graders the other week…
It is sad… you are right.
It’s a scary time and terribly sad for the families who have to go through these awful changes.
we are in the same boat my husband lost his job on Feb 27. It’s scary and sad and many more feelings involved.
