Thanks for a lovely posting. I’ve just finished a very hard first year of teaching and I’m looking for a job for next year. I find myself struggling with a lot of negative emotions. I found it heartening to see that even an accomplished teacher can experience difficulty and disappointments. Understand, I’m not happy that you experienced them, just glad that I’m alone, and encouraged that you can have difficulty but still keep a positive attitude about yourself and your teaching. Don’t know if this makes any sense, but thanks for your posting.

The Elephant and Piggie books (there are several — yay!) are Mo Willem’s version of easy readers. The humor is terrific, and both my preschoolers and I just love them. When I picked up this one at the library, I laughed out loud all the way through, and that doesn’t happen very often. Now I need to own ALL of them. I hope Scholastic hurries up and offers them all through the book clubs!

It is amazing. Our community has woken up to this fact, and several businesses are supporting this, but children are still not being reached. And sometimes when they are, the family situation prevents it from being successful. Thankfully I’ve seen a lot of success this past year. 3 cheers for families who care!

I will look for this book. My first graders LOVED Knufflebunny (by Mo Willems) this last year. They wanted it read over and over and they laughed every time. Thanks.
