my mystery coworker

There will definitely be an afternoon class this fall, and it will be in what previously had been MY classroom.  I was on vacation when she got hired, so I did not get to interview her.  I called her yesterday to introduce myself, and left a message.  I haven’t heard back yet.

I’m quite nervous about this.  We will be sharing a tiny space daily — overlapping at lunch time — and our relationship is critical to the success of the year.

Miss Slinger is nervous, too — she’ll be in both classrooms.  We’re going out on a girls’ night out soon, and can hash things over.  I hope the mystery teacher calls me soon so I can get to know her!

  1. oh, wishing you well as you wait.

i have a new coworker coming too. only i won’t have to share the classroom, we’re just always together. i’ve done it the other way too and it can be tricky!

    take care.

  2. I have been co-teching over the past few years. I move from grade to grade and have to become “re-established” with different teachers each year. The most important thing is to comminicate-both the good and the not so good. Try to do as much frontloading with palnning as possible if not in person then through email.

  3. Just don’t let the kids have relay races in the room on a rainy day and break her fishtank. Been there-not pretty. It’s hard when one has to share a room with compulsive neat freak and one is,um,not.

  4. Hmmm, that was interesting. Looks like somethings will always remain mystery.

I myself have been trying to solve the mystery of this legend for a while now. Could not understand much though.

Let me know in case you get to understand the mystery of the Old Hound and the Legend

By the way, good writing style. I’d love to read more on similar topics

  5. I hope she calls you soon. We share space with another set of teachers who teach on Tuesdays/Thursdays. Communication is key. Since we don’t see each other very often, we have a staff notebook to communicate.
Let me know how meeting with her goes!

  6. Okay, it’s almost a week later, and she still hasn’t called me. I wonder if she is on vacation….or if she didn’t take the job? I’m quite puzzled.
