It’s the first day of school, and I am not there. I’ve hardly been here (my blog) at all, either. Here’s why: last year was a really tough year for me, and I could barely make it through each day without a nap. I had no energy left over for my family, let alone my blog.
So I decided to take a year off. This year I will be at home, able to be here for my sons. One is preparing for college, the other preparing for high school, and both of them need a mother who has time for them, and is not in bed with another migraine. I’m also taking the year off to get my health back on track, so I can start exercising again (I didn’t exercise for nine months last school year!), sleeping better, and reducing my migraines. One of my goals is to start meditating as a daily practice.
I’m also hoping to write more, now that I will have the time. So that is my explanation for where I have been, and where I am now. I’m glad to be back here, and hope that you will join me on my year off, as I reflect on my teaching and prepare for next year, when I will most definitely be back in the classroom with my preschoolers.
Good for you. I hope it’s a rejuvenating year for you!
Thanks, Sara. It definitely feels like the right thing to do, for me and my family.
